Christmas Card for 2011

My cats Ziva and Jackson for our family X-mas card for 2011. I’ve been illustrating the front of our Christmas cards for a few years, but it’s only recently I’ve really improved. Jackson is the darker one, Ziva the bluish one. He lays on her a lot, probably to annoy her, so I wanted to show that here.

All critique is encouraged.

Medium: Pencil, then Prismacolor Fine Liner (nib .1mm), Prismacolor Art markers and White paint Sharpie marker

This work is NOT FOR SALE. Thank you.

  1. I love this one because the cats are both so expressive. They also look very different too (not just color-wise) so an observer can tell they are very unique with their own personalities. I like the colors you chose as well, the blue is so beautiful in contrast to the cat’s fur. I feel like Ziva’s face is popping out of the card, it really looks 3-d! That effect is quite impressive because it means you mastered shadows/colors to the point of making it look real. Awesome job 😀

  2. Thanks very much! I’m glad the colors look good and they look as expressive as I wanted them to 🙂

  3. I’ve been watching your technique develop over the years and love seeing the outcome(s). KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

    • Okay, not sure about how to post – but the one above was just posted by me – Aunt K (Karen)
